Cassel's day in sun will come

I'm not real pleased about the snub of Matt Cassel, either, but look at it this way, Kansas City fans: The guy will go to Hawaii even though he wasn't voted to the team

And how do I know? Because Tom Brady is one of the three AFC quarterbacks, and tell me the last time he played in a Pro Bowl. He almost always is chosen and almost always finds an excuse not to go. Guaranteed, he doesn't make it. And I bet Philip Rivers won't, either. Nevertheless, the sure money is on Brady bowing out, especially if the Patriots are in the Super Bowl.

Yes, Cassel deserves to go. Heck, the guy has Kansas City in the playoffs, is 10-4 as a starter and has 23 touchdowns and just two interceptions over his last 10 games. But whom was he going to displace? Brady? Rivers? Peyton Manning? One AFC quarterback was going to get shafted, and that quarterback was Cassel.

But that's the bad news. The good is that this will all work out in the end. Trust me. So don't get too bent out of shape about Cassel not being in Hawaii ... because he will be. Just wait.

@RCJ78

Just wanted to add that I totally agree with your comment... had some issues of KC fans jumping my rear because i'm a Seahawks fan and assuming I am dogging the chiefs before they even read what I have to say

Cassel's day in sun will come

@RCJ78

This is as timeless as the Emmitt vs Barry argument- ultimately Emmitt won games and Barry shined on an otherwise dead Lions team.

Sure Philip Rivers is better then Cassel, he is destined to be one of the best in our generation. Who would you rather have, the best... but not enough of a supporting cast to go deep into playoffs (or make them this year) Or a consistent QB playing to his strengths within a system having success. I'd take the success any day. We are fans of players sure, but players don't win championships; teams do. The Chiefs have a system that makes them successful. Hate on it as people do, they are 10-5 right now and it's highly possible they hit 11-5 on the season. It's a sign of desperation to try and justify not winning by knocking down a winner. I don't agree with all of the Matt Cassel hype, but it can't take away from what the TEAM has done as a whole. Jamal Charles for MVP.

Oh- Stat monsters like Rivers are great for fantasy football, but when was the last time fantasy points got you into the play offs? The Chargers need to re-group and set thier alarm clocks to go off sometime earlier then mid November to have a chance next year... If it doesn't work out maybe Marino will give Rivers a spot in one of his commercials!

@

Make sure to re-read my comment. I was referring to years in the past, not the obvious current year as far as Jamal Charles is concerned. He has lacked any kind of passing attack, leaving defenses free to either pressure the QB, plug running lanes, or play for the ball. Hence, it was not feasible to rush the ball.

Obviously this year this is not the case... But in regards to your other comments.. The "Balanced Offense" That's offensive. The Chiefs have the 27th ranked passing attack and 1st ranked rush. So why do you all jump on the Cassel Nuts?

Charles and Jones have given this team their momentum- when they are stopped KC losses. Give these guys credit- your playing with the same miscreant O line of last year, and they are still successful. They are pushing, shoving, breaking tackles and EARNING their yards. Bowe and Cassel are reaping the benefits in the eye of the public though Charles has raked in over 1300 yards of rushing himself.

Balance in offense... Hmm...  3001 yards is not what you would expect for that many TD's. Cassel is picking his way inch by inch- not dropping the bombs downfield. It's smart game planning- Weiss is playing to his strengths. His success comes much the same as Kyle Orton of 2010. Orton lacked the big time rushing attack that Kansas City has.

Bottom Line: KC is wining because of their running backs- Cassel is a high priced tool, he is doing what nearly any other NFL starting QB can do- passing in a controlled situation; controlled by the run. The only difference is he is making a TON of money more then his similar counterparts. It's a good thing- if you had a Jay Cutler he would be demanding the ball putting less emphasis on a successful running game that wins games. Cassel-  Modern day Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson-  Maybe more comparable to Kyle Orton. He is NOT Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers- and he doesn't have to be so why bother making comparisons. He is a different kind of QB.. not successful as a gun slinger- successful in the short yardage control game. Downside- fast scoring teams (like Colts when they have healthy WR's) and Defensive powerhouses (like a Pittsburgh) will cause problems. Nobody is invincible, regardless of a td/int ratio or fantasy point total. Hell- Philip Rivers is a fantasy monster- when did he win his last superbowl? Ha-

Next time stop and read it, think about what I am saying and don't get defensive.. no need I think the Chiefs have found a successful method. I just don't think Cassel is to thank for it. If I have to s-p-e-l-l out who should be the M-V-P I wouldn't THINK of Cassel. I would nominate the PAIR of backs. That's C-h-a-r-l-e-s and J-o-n-e-s if KU has failed you.

...Rivers is better than Cassel no matter what their surrounding talent is. He was better than him this year, last year, the year before, and the year before that. Rivers would still be better than him if they played with their left arm strapped to their body or were forced to throw left handed. He's just a better QB.  I'm not kidding you, you're kidding yourself if you'd think otherwise.

You can have the better QB nomans, we'll take the better team.  Have fun watching the Chiefs this year in the playoffs while San Diego sits at home because your all-world QB couldn't be the Bungles.

Lets be truthful here, unless another QB leads their team to an undefeated season and all the while he makes it thru the season with no interceptions and complets over 80% of his passes will he kick Brady, Manning or Rivers off the top three spots.  It just won't happen.  Look at the NFC, with 20 int's Breese is still there.  If Cutler had another 20 int season they would have skinned him alive.  Everyone knows that with the Pro Bowl just like baseballs AllStar game, the best doesn't always mean the MOST deserving.  I honestly think in this situation Cassel should have replaced Rivers because he lead his team to the playoffs and Rivers didn't.

Cassel's day in sun will come

"When Judge gets over his man-crush on Cassel he'll realize the best QB in the AFC West is Philip Rivers. Statistically, Rivers outperformed Cassel without his best WR, Vincent Jackson, for 12 games, and also without the services of Malcom Floyd, Legedu Nanee, and Antonio Gates for a significant stretch.  Just take Dwayne Bowe out of KC for the first twelve games and let me know what Cassel does...and how far KC goes in the division. BTW, Tom Brady's only excuse for missing Pro Bowl games is his perennial playoff and SB runs. Can't fault him for that, nor for playing in games that really matter.  Again, when Judge gets over his man-crush on Cassel..."

Are you kidding me do you hear the names and talent you are listening off? Jackson, Floyd, Nanee, and Gates and you wonder how he was able to do so well. Here is a quiz for you name the second or third WR for the Chiefs because those spots have been different all year long. For multiple games Chambers was a healthy scratch. I agree that Rivers should be in the pro bowl. I also agree that the Brady should be there. I think you could have flipped a coin with Manning and Cassel and Manning has his name to go off of so he gets the nod. But don't tell me Rivers is better because of the lack of weapons around him he has had far more talent around him all year long.

Like the  Browns that the Chiefs were able to beat on the road? Don't talk about schedule you can only play who is on it and Cassel was able to put up what he did.
