49ers prove a point

Posted on: October 16, 2011 4:39 pm

It's official: San Francisco is legit.

Not only did the 49ers beat previously unbeaten Detroit; they won their third straight road game ... and they won it in the last two minutes. More importantly, they overcame a raft of stupid penalties to score the victory.

Once upon a time the 49ers didn't know how to close games. But they won in the fourth quarter in Cincinnati. They won in the fourth quarter in Philadelphia. And they just pulled another one out of the hat in Detroit.

Alex Smith will get credit for the win -- with his TD pass to Delanie Walker the difference -- but this one  belonged to the 49ers' defense. It thwarted Detroit again and again, including the Lions' possession immediately after the Walker score when they couldn't pick up a first down.

San Francisco not only is the best team in the NFC West; it's becoming one of the best teams in the NFC.

49ers prove a point

I Believe the 49ers to be great and see they still don't have respect by this tiny scribble. As for the handshake, this league is turning pretty pansylike with all these WHINERS and safety rules! You get the BIG bucks to perform, GET ON WITH IT!!!!

Schwartz is cocky.... his overreacted. Harbaugh meant nothing by it.

Great comment, Cardinal_Nation.  I agree that Schwartz overracted to Harbaugh's post-game display.  I've watched the video several times now and I didn't see Harbaugh "shove" Schwartz at any point.  However, I hope coach Harbaugh doesn't react like this everytime San Francisco wins a big game.  Once in a while is cool, but reactions like today could bring karma in the future.

BTW, I hope St. Louis wins tonight.

Too Legit to Quit

The Niners are legit.  They have beaten some of the top talent in the NFC en route to their 5-1 record.  It feels great to be a contender again.

BTW, Harbaugh did absolutely nothing wrong at the end of the game.  Schwartz is a complete and utter tool.  The guy is known for acting like an idiot while patrolling the sidelines of every game.  Harbaugh was excited and wasn't afraid to show it, especially after Schwartz had mouthed off earlier in the game.  Schwartz is a cry baby and just needs to shut his hole.  Nice how he added in the press conference that he got "shoved" and somebody used an obscenity.  I saw the video, I didn't see a shove.  I wish the players and officials would have let them go at it.  Harbaugh would have ripped that little troll cry baby to shreds.  Go Niners!!!!!

49ers prove a point

Harbaugh didn't do anything wrong. If anything Schwartz was angry about crashing back down to Earth. It was a good game to watch and it's a shame that this stupid confrontation is taking away from it. Chill out Scwartz, you season isn't over you baby

49ers prove a point

Niner fan here, I am wondering why Harbaugh attempted that classless handshake w/Lion head couch at end of game. Were there any words pregame, or did something happen during the game that angered him? Even if so, Harbaugh needs to be much more classy in a win than he was today

Yeah the class less Schwartz said at the beggining of the game that the 49ers defered to the second half and now let the whipping begin! Schwartz was a little to cocky for his own good and Harbaugh let him know it! What comes around goes around!

49ers prove a point

I am not really anti 49ers but, once again the officiating sucked.  This should be called the refs decide league.
